I'm always seeking inspiration in pop culture for my illustrations and apparel collections as a whole—from movies and TV series to sports history and socio-political events — as a kind of postmodern anthropology.

  1. Pop Culture

After defining a theme of interest, I begin the design process by creating several moodboards to abstract elements like color palettes, artistic styles, and even to trace the influences behind my influences.

  1. Conceptualization

Manifesto: We pay tribute to the culture we grew up with and are a part of—a generation raised by television. We freely embrace our influences, for it is through the freedom of reinterpretation that we find our most sincere form of creativity. We strive to be a lifestyle without prejudice, where everyone can wear our clothing with pride and without fear.

Short story, big history.

In 2016, I founded my own clothing brand, Milagro, as a creative outlet for my lifelong passion for drawing. Over the years, I've gained extensive experience in developing design projects—from the research phase to launch or construction. My strongest skills lie in conceptualization, illustration, and visual design.

Since its inception, Milagro has launched 19 collections, along with various collaborative projects with other brands and companies. In December 2019, it opened its flagship store in Barrio La California, San José, Costa Rica, as part of a collaborative initiative among several entrepreneurs in a historic urban house. Milagro was the only business in the space that remained operational after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In November 2022, the brand paused production entirely, and in June 2023, the brick-and-mortar store closed after three years of enduring the pandemic’s effects. By December 2023, Milagro resumed production and relaunched its online store, along with pop-up shop events.

DISCIPLINE

Everything… from branding, illustration, apparel design, creative direction and ice cream.

Each collection has it's own conceptual development prior to design and production.

After the research and conceptualization stages, I define and sketch the garments that could be part of the collection, guided by the theme and the season.

  1. Delimitation

I’ve found that true creativity often emerges from reinterpreting meaning. I also believe we should embrace what we love as fearlessly as possible—paying tribute while staying true to ourselves, without becoming mere replicas.

  1. A copy of a copy of a copy

Once the concept is clear and the sketches are ready, the production process begins and continues until the new collection comes to life. After sourcing the right fabrics, I create detailed illustrations while the garments are being cut and sewn. The final step is the creative direction of a conceptual lookbook.
